This book is aggressively, unnecessarily long.  It was such a chore to read this book - I really had to force myself to stick with it.  While this is better than the second book, which is pretty easy since that was a dumpster fire, this book ranges from mediocre to occasionally dull.  This plot is obvious and I saw the endings coming from a mile away.  It lacks the level of intrigue of the first book, but it's good to see Baru is back to having character traits again.
