If you like fantasy, dragons and most importantly women, this is the book for you!!!

The size of this book is very intimidating but reading it is so worth it. There are a lot of people and places to keep track of so it did take me a few chapters from each POV (there are four) to get into the book properly but when I did, oh man, I was HOOKED. There is a lot of politics in the book, more than I expected, but I found it very intriguing anyway. And there is less active dragon content than I thought, but they are mentioned a lot. And they are there, don’t worry. And they’re both terrifying and awesome.

Here are some thoughts I had on the separate POVs:

EAD
My darling Ead!!! I was immediately entranced by her, her chapters were my favourites. Even the regular court shenanigans was interesting from her POV. I really loved getting to know her. She was so smart and fierce. (view spoiler)

LOTH
At first I was quite neutral with Loth, I liked him but not too much, but as the story went on I got more and more interested in his chapters. He was a really cool character and his interactions with the other characters were great.

TANÉ
Tané was such a cool character too!!! It was really fun to read from the perspective of an Easterner as it gave a completely different worldview. Both her and Ead were very strong and fierce female protagonists and I loved them both for it. Tané’s relationship with her dragon Nayimathun was very interesting too, I really liked that the humans and dragons could communicate with each other.

NICLAYS
I’m gonna be honest, I never really cared for Niclays. His chapters were important to the full story in the end, but I did not enjoy reading them nearly as much as I enjoyed the other POVs. You can’t win every time I guess. But I still loved this book so it wasn’t too bad.

(view spoiler) The book was filled with adventure and I enjoyed reading it very much. The characters were very diverse both in ethnicity and sexuality which was a big plus from me! And the characters felt complex, all of them had their own background and reasons to act as they did. I highly recommend this book!!!
