Not a bad story, but not Herbert's best. It started out good, but staled in the second act and didn't really have a satisfying conclusion. As other people have noted, its more of a ecological thriller (without many thrills) than a straight up science fiction novel. Would have been better as just a short story, taking out most of the second act and focusing more on the end would have made a better overall story.
