The plot:

The reaper, by are you, NYX follow us a story of a character, who becomes entwined with a supernatural world afternoon counter with death. The characters are drawn into a dark and thrilling journey filled with danger, romance and the struggle for survival against malevolent forces. As they navigate this new reality, they must confront their own fears and make choices that could alter their fate and the lives of those around them. The plot weaves together themes of love, loss and the battle between good and evil.

My thoughts:

This is the second book in the series and was so much better than the first one, I’m really glad I read the second one. This one talks more on character development and follows the plot really well. There is a lot of shocking truths in this book that had me on the edge of my seat and I just couldn’t put it down. Tristan Caine really had my heart in this book with his character development. I can’t wait to read the 3rd book in the series where it follows two of the other characters.

Writing/pace:

The writing is just perfect in this book, it’s fast paced but this helps with the excitement and the sense of urgency of the book. I love how the writer uses short sentences to really hook you in, It helps you to keep engaged. The flow of the writing is very smooth between intense moments and character development.

Characters:

Tristan Caine:
In this book we find out more about Tristan and how he has to confront his demons and strive for redemption. His relationships especially with Morana are key to his growth and he has to learn to open up to her more. I love how he learns to balance his darker instincts with the desire to protect those in his inner circle. His inner struggles make him relatable to many people as we see his transformation and the choices he makes along the way.

Morana Vitalio:
Morana is described as fierce, intelligent and resourceful often taking charge of her own destiny, and who doesn’t love a powerful FMC. Morana faces many challenges to test her resilience and determination. Her relationship with Tristan Caine  adds to her character, specifically as they navigate their feelings for each other, while dealing with threats from the outside.

Side characters:

Dante Maroni:
Dante is the son on Lorenzo Maroni and is described as a complex character who plays a significant role in the narrative. He is the heir to the Maroni empire but struggles with this as he wants a better life than the one his father has made for him. He presents challenges to both Morana and Tristan forcing them to confront their own beliefs. His character is funny and easy to get along with. He really starts to look after Morana when she is struggling.

Amara:
Amaras backstory is honestly heartbreaking and contributes to the overall themes of loyalty and betrayal. Throughout the story is really talks about Amaras struggles and her growth making her vital to the plot. Amara becomes Moranas close friend and vice versa and neither of them have had that kind of relationship before. They learn to support one another despite their differences.

Favourite quotes:

~ “Give them hell,” he whispered to her. She smiled. He stared at her smile for a long, long minute, his magnificent eyes glued to her mouth. And the most beautiful, precious thing happened. His cold, aloof eyes warmed. ~

~ For the first time in her life, she felt home. ~

~“Never again. You’ll never be alone again. No matter how bad the nightmare gets, I’m going to be right here.”~

~“I’m so in love with you, caveman.” She saw his eyes flare slightly, his hand coming to rest around her neck, gripping her firmly. “You can’t take that back,” he warned her fiercely.~
