Unfortunately this is my first Natalia Ginsburg book - but the acute observations and poignant narrative of her memoir made me instantly crave more. She talks about the people she loves with frank, yet affectionate, descriptors and anecdotes, not shying from their flaws but also not loving them any less. Her father’s descriptions of artworks as “dribdrabs” and “doodle dums” will stick with me forever.
