Locke & Key: Heaven & Earth by Gabriel Rodríguez, Joe Hill

2.25

"Open the Moon" is beautiful and moving, one of my favorite storylines so far, but "Grindhouse" really brought the whole thing down for me. It felt unnecessarily demeaning and vulgar. There are a thousand different ways the Depression-era Locke family could have been shown as capable and as badass as they are without the near-constant threat of sexual violence. And yes, everyone got their comeuppance in the end, but heaven forbid a fate equal to death is to be
turned into a woman.
