Boyfriend Material by Alexis Hall

5.0

Semi-famous, through his rockstar parents, Luc needs to clean up his image to save his job. So he comes up with a plan to get a respectable boyfriend. Enter barrister Oliver Blackwood, who is as respectable as they come, and just so happens to need a date to his parents' wedding anniversary. The two couldn't be more different and the couple times they've met previously have not gotten along but they strike up a fake relationship to solve their real problems anyways. Now, I love a fake dating plot, and I love enemies-to-lover plot lines so I'll admit I was partial with this one to begin with. This book is funny, and sweet, and adorable, and Oliver is oh so dreamy. I mean . . . . "I'm conscious this could be rather burdensome to hear, but you remain the thing I have most chosen for myself. The thing that's most exclusively mine. The one that brings me the deepest joy.... In any case, I wasn't prepared for the truth of you." Oof. ::dreamy eyes::

Definitely worth all 4.5 stars.

It's not 5 stars because despite being over 400 pages, the ending still felt rushed. You know Oliver can't be that perfect but I felt like we spent 385 pages devoted to Luc's problems so Oliver's were rushed into the last 50 pages. Additionally, this was a fade-to-black love scene type of book, and I needs my steam.
