The Life-Changing Magic of Tidying Up by Marie Kondo

5.0

It really is revolutionary.

I’ll start by saying two things. 1) I went into this only familiar with “does it spark joy?” 2) I work in a home office with someone who is very cluttered and after doing things to help, like cleaning off the kitchen island which is the only table to eat at, only to have it cluttered over again was discouraging. Every time I looked at a mess of my own or how many of something I had I worried about becoming like this person and how could I prevent that.

This is exactly what I needed to read and I even lent it to my coworker to help her too. It’s not an arbitrary “this is how many pants you need and this is how to store things so they take up the least amount of space, letting you get 400 things into a place you though only fit 40” it’s about creating your ideal lifestyle and making yourself happy. When those are the goals and the guaranteed results of doing it right you go ahead and do it right.

If you feel like it’s stupid and you want to stop reading or you want to try it out of order or skip steps, I really urge you to try it the right way and see if you can prove it doesn’t work. If it helps, I’ll dare you. If nothing you tried worked so far then what do you have to lose?
