What an incredible book! I was intrigued by the intriguing synopsis on the back of the book and was hooked after the first paragraph. However, I was pleasantly surprised to discover that it was a philosophical read. The protagonist eloquently explores his values and what truly matters to him in just seven days.
The beautifully written book is filled with nuggets of reflection that make you contemplate your own choices and actions if you were in the protagonist’s shoes. Interestingly, the author never reveals the protagonist’s name, leaving you to imagine him as a 30-year-old postman.
The deal the protagonist makes with the devil is a losing battle, and he realizes that he can’t outrun his fate. This realization sets the stage for the book’s exploration of his final days on Earth.
This book is a rollercoaster of emotions that forces you to reflect deeply. I’ve given it a 4.75, but I’m considering a five-star rating.
