Slow paced is an understatement. There is much of Memnoch that really didn't add to the story, such as the plot around Lestat and Dora and her father. This could simply have been Memnoch relaying his story to the reader and Lestat didn't need to participate at all. As someone who is not Christian or Catholic, I can still appreciate the way Rice studied and philosophied. She does this a lot in her writing, but Memnoch is the deepest dive into this in the series. I enjoyed Memnoch's story, as a fantasy story, overall.
