The Diary of a Young Girl by Anne Frank

emotional reflective medium-paced

4.0

Such an interesting and tragic read. So glad I read it. Definitely sobbed at the end where they tell you what happened to each of the Annexe residents, that’s what hit me the most - until then I just felt sad because it didn’t feel quite real. It’s also so upsetting to me that Anne mentions Margot having a diary too but no one has ever found it. Especially later on, Anne comes across as so mature and some of the things she writes were probably very sad for her dad to read. Margot also seemed very mature, especially her understanding that Peter and Anne wanted space even with her loneliness and isolation. It’s so sad to read the moments where they talked about the end of the war, want they wished to do first especially. It’s also so depressing to me that Peter passed a day before his camp was freed. All of it so tragic.
