generalizing the southern united states as a monolith of hatred only serves to silence the thousands of minority groups that work every day to make their home a more accepting and hospitable place.

if you love reading stories infused with the essence of white cis gay tears, boy howdy is this the book for you.

vague worldbuilding, disappointingly flat characters (especially the female characters), an ending that made me think i got a defective book because we just skip the main romantic conflict, and a protagonist who, despite being wealthy, cis, and white (the author made SURE we all know our protagonist is a pasty pale uwu boy, take that as you will), still manages to constantly interject about how ~oppressed~ he is and how he can ~relate~ to everyone’s (much more serious) struggles because he’s ✨effeminate✨
