friendship, misunderstandings, satire, fiction lovers, Henry Tilney … what’s not to love?
easily my second favorite Austen novel, only surpassed by Emma. can you tell that I’m drawn to Austen’s humor and sarcasm?
after having read all six of Austen’s completed novels, I can definitely see why Northanger Abbey might not land as well with those who prefer P&P. tone wise, this book is almost completely different from the overly romantic (at times) Pride and Prejudice - though it should be said that P&P still includes some sarcasm hidden amongst the drama.
the occasional use of first person narration, direct to reader, intrigued me here. I think that is unique to this book?
