abbythompson 's review for:
Surrender of a Siren
by Tessa Dare
Brief Summary:
Breaking her engagement and disguising herself as a governess on the way to the Caribbean, Sophia clings to the hope that once she turns 21, she'll regain control of her life and choices. Benedict "Gray" Grayson is a former privateer finally legit when he meets Sophie. Sparks fly as they two navigate their growing passion as well as the high seas.
Why I Picked it up:
I used to love ship-board romances but hadn't read on in ages. Sophie was kind of a 'meh' heroine for me. A little too ingenuous, frequently bordering on TSTL. However Gray was brilliant -- seedy pirate past, finally trying to come clean, balancing a multi-racial family in the 1800s -- all hearty, heavy, INTERESTING stuff. Perhaps so much so that any heroine would pale in comparison.
Who Would Like it:
Regency readers, ship-board romance fans, anyone with a pirate obsession.
