Hands down one of the best books I've read in years. I just finished my second read through, and I think I will return to the series many, MANY times in the future.
Yes, it starts slow, but the world building is AMAZING. The writing is perfect - Roth doesn't write down to the reader, nor is the writing so high level that the reader needs a dictionary. I love the depth with which Roth writes everything. I feel as if I truly know these characters.
