Nonfiction: A Novel is a poignant look at how addiction damages people and relationships. Specifically told from the mother's point of view, readers are shown the ripple effect of the daughter's addiction and the persistent devastation to not only the daughter but both parents. Myerson writes with an empathy that reveals addiction for what it truly is: an all-consuming, dangerous illness. The parents are flawed, the daughter is flawed, and they are all just attempting to survive in the best ways they know how.
