Forgive Me Father
by Katerina St Clair
two and a half ☆
i went into this book VERY blindly. i had seen little snippets of it online and immediately added it to my tbr. i thought i was just getting a forbidden romance, but it ended up being a lot more than that. this book was a wild ride. very grateful for the content warning at the beginning and highly recommend people don’t skip it.
i did like the writing of the mmc and fmc, but sometimes they had me putting the book down due to second-hand embarrassment. the way the fmc bursts out with the most traumatizing information and the most random of times had me stunned sometimes. overall - they were a good match for each other and im glad to see their story.
there were a few plot holes that drove me a little mad. i wish we got to see more how this circle came to life and who was really running the show. how did david get involved? how did father kevin? it was such a huge plot, but i feel we missed out on a lot of details that had me curious. i feel we rushed through some pretty critical points. also the mmc’s backstory is still so much a mystery. i feel like we still don’t know much about him.
i also was just not a huge fan of the epilogue. there was a big time jump with little detail. it felt a bit rushed. i wish we could see more of what roman’s doing for work, heard more about adrian and zoey, for someone who wanted to rush in to marriage… why did roman wait four years? just simple things i wished to have seen!
the art work in this was stunning and it was a really nice surprise! i wish more authors did this.
overall - the book was fine. for something that i was highly anticipating, i was a little let down, but i still did enjoy it.
