I’m reading this one out of order too. I had read Book 3, Tease, a while ago but this one has been on my TBR for a bit.
Dex is the single dad next door, a grumpy firefighter with a no desire for an HEA. Winnie is his young neighbor, who loves big and without apology, but she’s on a break from love. No strings attached quickly grows strings and there’s a grand gesture and all that good stuff.
The book is cute. There’s a lot of characters, so I found myself struggling to keep everyone straight, but Dex’s shit-talking daughters are some of my favorite kids I’ve read in romance novels. Usually kids are precocious and annoying but these two are a trip with their morning run-down of Dex and their complete lack of filter.
