I'm not sure why I couldn't put it down, but I couldn't. The parts that are fairytale are stunning, the parts that are pre/during WW2 Russia are harrowing. The only thing that doesn't quite fit is the amount of sex scenes and how they are written. But this is a great book and has me wanting to learn more about Russian folk tales.
