💭This book had me clutching my metaphorical pearls while simultaneously cheering on our blood-stained queen, Lana Myers. *Scarlet Angel* takes the tension, revenge, and raw emotion from the first three books of "The Mindf*ck Series" and turns it up to *eleven*. Lana is on her warpath, and it’s somehow both terrifying and beautiful to watch.
The story is sharper, darker, and full of moments that make me gasp, laugh, and occasionally cheer for a serial killer. Yes, I’m officially morally compromised.
Let’s talk about Lana for a second. She’s like a rose with thorns dipped in poison—deadly yet captivating. Her relationship with Logan had me on edge because, let’s face it, he’s a profiler for the FBI. It’s like falling in love with a lie detector while you’re hiding bodies in the backyard. And yet, their love story is so raw and tender, it gave me whiplash.
Logan Bennett - the cinnamon roll FBI agent, is the epitome of moral conflict. He’s out here hunting a serial killer, completely oblivious that his girlfriend is that very killer. The layers of tension between his work life and his love life are just the chef’s kiss.
Jake - Lana’s ride-or-die best friend, is the kind of support system everyone needs. He’s sarcastic, protective, and just unhinged enough to match Lana’s vibe. Honestly, I’d read a spin-off about him in a heartbeat.
Hadley - Logan’s badass co-worker, is another standout. She’s sharp and intuitive. Her dynamic with Logan and the team adds so much depth to the FBI side of the plot.
But what really got me was how Lana and Hadley’s relationship evolved in this book. I was obsessed. Their banter is hilarious, but beneath the humor, there’s a genuine connection forming.
And can we talk about Donny for a second? His comic relief is a breath of fresh air amidst all the darkness. The banter between him and Hadley? Gold.
First, the fight between Lana and the Boogeyman at the beginning? I couldn’t breathe. Serial killer vs. serial killer? Chef’s kiss. It’s intense, bloody, and a stark reminder that Lana isn’t just avenging her past—she’s thriving in this deadly game of hers.
The plot in *Scarlet Angel* is a tightrope walk between Lana’s calculated revenge and the inevitability of her secrets coming out. Every chapter felt like a ticking time bomb. S.T. Abby’s writing is dark, gripping, and filled with just enough romance and humor to keep you hooked.
And then there’s Delaney Grove. Lana returns to the scene of the crime (and her trauma)? That was a moment. The weight of her past mixed with her calculated moves for vengeance is pure brilliance. And Jack? What he pulled off as part of their plan? BRILLIANT. I won’t spoil it, but let’s just say that Jack and Lana make chaos look like an art form.
And that ending? Let’s just say I’m simultaneously terrified and desperate for the next book.
Overall, Scarlet Angel is a dark romance and psychological thriller perfection. The stakes are getting higher, the plot tighter, and the emotional depth? Off the charts. I’m simultaneously desperate to finish the series and terrified of what’s to come.
And yes, I’m still rooting for Lana. Don’t judge me or you can. I don't actually care!
𝐏.𝐒 This series is like caffeine straight to my veins—each book gets more addictive, and I have no idea what kind of emotional destruction the last two books are going to bring. But I’m ready to be wrecked.
🔸𝑴𝒚 𝑹𝒂𝒕𝒊𝒏𝒈: ⭐⭐⭐⭐.5
🔸𝑮𝒆𝒏𝒓𝒆: Dark Romance
🔸𝑺𝒑𝒊𝒄𝒚: 🌶️
🔸𝑺𝒆𝒓𝒊𝒆𝒔: Mindf*ck (Book 3)
🔸𝑹𝒆𝒄𝒐𝒎𝒎𝒆𝒏𝒅𝒂𝒕𝒊𝒐𝒏: Absolutely!!
If you’re into morally grey heroines, high-stakes drama, and a love story that feels impossible yet perfect, this series is for you. But be warned: it’ll mess with your emotions and make you question your morals.

"To defeat a monster, you have to be twice as monstrous.
To love a monster, you have to share your soul.
—Lana Myers"
"Plemmons coughs, strangling on the air that enters his lungs. “Who…are…you?” he asks through labored breaths.
Her smile deepens. “I’m the girl who takes on the darkest of men. Men who’ve done things dark and twisted to the weak. Men who preyed on the innocent. Men who thought they killed me when I was weak. Just like the women you’ve killed.”
“You’re like me,” he says, more surprise in his tone that fear or malice.
“No,” she says quietly. “I’m so much worse and better than you. I’m the thing the monsters in the dark fear. And now I’m even the Boogeyman’s nightmare.”
"My brother was a Shakespeare lover. He lived and breathed the words of a man his generation took for granted. The people of that time didn’t respect or appreciate the anguish and torment tied into each tragedy he produced under the guise of true romance.
Marcus was a romantic to the core, with nothing but light and beauty shining from him.
The world around us snuffed out that light.
They stole his grace.
Shamed his name.
Killed him.
Destroyed us."
"Logan tells him before scooping me up, cradling me to him as though I’m fragile.
I let him. When he’s around, I don’t feel like I have to be so invincible. When he’s with me, I feel like I can just be cared for without being weak.
Like it’s okay to be vulnerable, because he’d never use it against me."
"His last name was Bag, and his first name was Douche. Sometimes he went by SSA Johnson.”
“I love you too, Lana Myers,” he says so softly.
And in that moment, I’m completely his. There’s no revenge; there are no deaths staining my hands. I’m just a girl in love with a man who’s destined to hate me when he learns the truth.
And it’s devastatingly tragic; more so than any Shakespearian play ever was."
"Shakespeare was one of the few philosophers who believed in revenge. Then again, he was a romantic. Romantics always believe in revenge, because romantics love harder, suffer loss more painfully, and hold onto a grudge that has shattered their hearts. Their hearts are of the greatest importance, above all else—body, soul, or mind."
"My father was an Einstein man. My mother loved Confucius. My brother, the hopeless romantic who was too easily emotional, lived and breathed Shakespeare. Personally, I was always in love with the words of Voltaire.”
"It’s everything I need and more.
He’s everything I wish I could be.
A hero.
A hero loved by a monster."
