Short but enjoyable story. It's the third person POV that actually took me out of it from time to time.

Matteo had to leave Renee before, but now that he's out of prison, they meet again by chance while she's running away. The minute he sees AJ though, he immediately knows he's his. Matteo is determined to protect his family and this time he's more open to chasing after their happy ever after... after they deal with the threat to her, of course.

Renee forgave him easily for leaving her but she didn't really have a choice because she needed his help to be safe and he was definitely making up for it. I loved how smart she was during the main conflict - she may not have had the skills to save them but she still contributed a lot by bringing the weapons.

I recommend this, more of a palate cleanser especially if you've been reading dark romances and heavy stuff. It's light and sweet and short. Nothing amazing but good enough.
