The Gender Game
by Bella Forrest
The story has an interesting concept where the world is divided between the two sexes. Women rule one side and men rule the other side. Through a series of events, Violet (MC) finds herself on the wrong side of the law and with a death sentence. She is given a choice to work on a mission for Matrus (the women's side) in Patrus (men's side). The mission results in her having to do things that go against her morals. The love interest was compelling and I wish there could have been more of him in the story but then it wouldn't have worked. Violet starts off as a very feisty young woman and still is by the end but my only gripe was that it didn't feel like she achieved anything in the story. At the end, she is actually worse off than when she started (except she's not about to be executed). The end was left open for the next in the series.
