Mean Streak by Sandra Brown

2.25

A good read and fun book, well, most of it. The characters, although somewhat stereotypes, were interesting, but we quoted like the author writes, not realistically. The book was a 3.5 until the totally implausible ending, which dropped it to at least 2.25. Reasons for the disappointing conclusion:
unrealistic explanation for Hayes’ hiding, more so for his sister’s support; where did he get his money to hide for four years?, why did the cops suddenly side with him?, Alice’s monologue, … and so on.
I enjoyed the first 80% of this. But it’s Sandra Brown, after all. 2.25.
