Listening to the audiobook edition of this book, there were numerous times that I had to hit pause so I could write down something particularly insightful Anders had written without missing the next nugget of wisdom, surely only a few seconds away. The density of useful, actionable writing advice in Never Say You Can’t Survive is such that I feel I will have to re-listen or re-read many times to glean every speck of wisdom from the text—not because Anders is difficult to follow in any way, but because there is simply that much useful advice here. Essential reading not just for queer speculative fiction writers but for just about every writer, and perhaps also for people who don’t consider themselves writers but wonder what possibilities would await them if they became one.
