I literally think this is my favorite series of all time. If possible, Brynne Weaver wrote an even better sequel to Butcher & Blackbird. I love both of them so much that it is hard to pick a favorite. I cannot wait to read the final book in this trilogy. I said it before but I will say it again — this series has literally everything I could ask for as a horror and romance fan. I. Love. These. Books.

I really enjoyed the way that this book started off. While we got insight into both Lark and Lachlan’s lives, we also got to continue seeing Sloane and Rowan, which was so much fun. I knew that this was going to be a trilogy but using different characters’ POVs, but I was not sure how involved the other characters would be in each book. Getting to see Sloane and Rowan’s wedding and to see Lark in these moments/get her insight, was so wonderful. It really made me fall even deeper into love with Lark. She was already one of my favorite characters in Butcher & Blackbird, but now I love her ten times more.

Then getting to see Sloane’s reaction to Lark’s sudden engagement was so interesting. Seeing how bewildered she was since Lark was being so secretive and actually does not share everything with her best friend, (I was genuinely shocked to learn all of Lark’s dark secrets) was so intriguing. I loved getting to learn more about their friendship, to get more insight into why they became so close, and to learn why Lark accepted Sloane’s inclinations so easily in B&B.

Then Lachlan. I honestly was not the biggest fan of this man going into this book, but getting to know him and being in his head made me fall head over heels for him. The way that he treats Sloane and gives her the world, makes my heart melt. He was always respectful to her in their marriage, even when at first he could barely stand to be around her.
Getting to see their love flourish and grow was definitely my favorite part about this book. I loved getting to see Lark begin to forgive Lachlan for his initial judgments against her, and getting to see both of their walls come down when they started to fall in love.

Again, I could go on and on about all of the things I love about this book, but I will end this review by simply saying that this is the series I have needed for so long. I am so happy that I have found these books. I will now be reading all of Brynne Weaver’s other books until the third book in this trilogy comes out. I rate this book 5/5 stars! 🌟
