Aeschylus II: The Oresteia: Agamemnon, The Libation Bearers, The Eumenides, Proteus (Fragments)
by Richmond Lattimore, Aeschylus, David Grene
Probably the most satisfying volume overall out of the entire Greek Tragedy collection. I loved the trilogy framework-the deception and intrigue in "Agamemnon", the emotional dialogue between mother and daughter in "Electra", and the political/social commentary in "Eumenides."
These stories are so impactful on modern storytelling. The theme of the exiled son returning in disguise to enact revenge on a royal intruder has been famously used. Much enjoyed and appreciated.
