Calling for a Blanket Dance by Oscar Hokeah

slow-paced
  • Plot- or character-driven? A mix
  • Strong character development? No
  • Loveable characters? No
  • Diverse cast of characters? It's complicated
  • Flaws of characters a main focus? It's complicated

Wow, this took me ages to get through! I tried reading it as a physical book, an eBook, and finally had success with the audiobook.

The story felt too disjointed—like a collection of related pieces that didn’t really come together. The multiple points of view and jumping through generations just didn’t click for me.

I can objectively recognize the positive messaging in the book, but reading it shouldn't feel like such a chore.
