魔法少女すずね☆マギカ 1 Mahou Shoujo Suzune Magica by Magica Quartet, GAN

4.0

Suzune is surrounded by the right amount of mystery with her ominous description of her motives and an implied ceremony to her murders makes her stand out against the various magical girl killers in the spin off series. Her emotional range is great, and in the first chapter she goes from cheery to cold-blooded in the murder of a girl named Kanami (a girl whose name is one letter off Madoka's family name is the closest the series has gotten to the other characters. Kyubey isn't even here).

The four heroes are a well balanced group, although some of their characterization is familiar. Matsuri reminds me of Madoka, Arisa of Kyoko, and Haruka of Mami. Still, the new story situation gives the familiar archetypes time to shine. The forth member, Chisato, is killed by Suzune on the first investigation.

Art is cute and close to the main series like most of the spin offs (sans Oriko). Like Kazumi, the magical girl clothes are sleeker and sexier than the more girly ones in canon and Tart. I prefer the cuter and more whimsical ones in Tart.
