House of Hollow by Krystal Sutherland

5.0

Stranger things cross gallant.

Three sisters mysteriously disappear in the middle of the night and come back completely unharmed one month later.. or are they? They begin to change; black hair lightening to blonde, blue eyes turning pitch black. Something is off, but no one questions it, they’re happy to have their girls back.

But where were they the month they disappeared, and what really happened late that night?

This book is addictive and a great introductory to psychological thriller. The sisters and their otherworldly bond was incredible, the writing style of the author and her use of grotesque descriptions - of the flowers growing from within their body, the bugs crawling below their skin - kept my stomach rolling, the icks and chills I got reading were perfect.
I love the lore it seems to be inspired by, exploring the ideas of fairy changelings and the halfway world between life and death.

I want to read this again and annotate it properly as there’s so much to delve into.
