these old alice oseman works have such a dark edge to them despite being contemporary novels, and i find them fascinating and incredible. alice sets out to examine and critique the parasocial relationship between fans and celebrities. and that's what she examines, and everything builds on it, and she leans into the darkness of it, because it's horrific and awful for the boys. she doesn't pull punches
