zayele 's review for:
Heart of Night and Fire
by Nisha J. Tuli
While this book is fun to read, I absolutely hate the use of “refusal to communicate” as a central plot device. Many of the issues in the book would have been resolved if two characters had just talked to each other openly, and there was no reason for them to not do this.
I generally liked the inclusion of various nods to Indian culture, but it was a little over the top at some points. There were a couple of neologisms that felt out of place in a fantasy novel, and I also think there were a few too many expletives.
3 stars as a result.
