This is a fast paced thriller about a successful author who is engaged to the scion of a wealthy family. Harriet is happy to find love with Edward after a life alone and as an orphan, but meeting and getting to know his wealthy, famous, and connected family is another story. The Holbecks have many strange idiosyncrasies that at first Harriet attributes to their wealth and her unfamiliarity with lives of the rich and famous but then starts to ask if something more sinister is at work. This is a propulsive story set during Christmas that provides a darker twist to holiday reading
