updating this review after rereading it in 2024… it’s perfect. it’s my favourite book ever. it’s intense and scorching and sharp and so so sad. i’d forgotten how moving it is, and also how effectively it draws you in (and along) with its brief chapters and vignettes. 5 stars ofc.
