Finders Keepers by Stephen King

‘Finders Keepers’ is an interesting middle chapter to the Bill Hodges Trilogy - as it doesn’t particularly feature much of Bill, Holly, or any of the supporting characters from it’s previous entry - ‘Mr. Mercedes’. It feels as if King had an idea for a two-hander, concluding with ‘End of Watch’, but retrofitted Bill, Holly, Jerome, and Barbara into this story to make it a trilogy of sorts.

Nevertheless, everything not pertaining to the “Bill Hodge-iness” of this book is really fucking good, with the first 150 pages being absolute fucking fire. And everything that is full “Bill Hodge-iness” is not bad, just a little frustrating in how it changes the pace of the story happening outside of their own. I was hooked by the back and forth telling of Morris and Pete’s stories, and overall I do think this is the better of the two Hodges books so far.

Onto ‘End of Watch’, where I’ve heard things get weird and messy, but I always go in with an open mind.

Oh, and Holly Gibney character update - I like her a lot, except for all the “poopy”… just like the “Tyrone Feelgood Delight” caricature, we can leave the “poopy” behind Steve.
