Mockingbird Wish Me Luck by Charles Bukowski

I never read poetry so I decided to give it a try. Why not start with some Bukowski as I've heard he's popular among men. Yes, there are some poems of his that I enjoyed in this book but I was mostly shocked about the subject matter. Now I'm not sure whether it's the dark topics he writes about that attract people to his witting or if it's because he is a good writer. Maybe, both?
