She Rides Shotgun by Jordan Harper

4.0

This book was WILD. So much action and intensity.

All 11-year-old Polly McCluskey knows about her dad is that he is in prison, which is why she’s surprised when he shows up to her school and says she needs to go with him. Reluctantly she goes, later learning that the reason they are on the run is because a “green light” has been put on Nate McCluskey and Polly by the Aryan Steel leader from prison as revenge on Nate for killing his brother. The story details father and daughter’s journey on the run, and the lessons Polly’s dad teaches her, far from your ordinary parenting.

There are a lot of characters introduced in the story which made me double back a few times, but I got it for the most part. It wasn’t slow at all like some thrillers get when you’re trying to figure out what’s going on. If you like action and fighting, this is a good one for you!
