call me by your name is a book that I DNFd years ago. I couldn't get into the book and found myself unable to enjoy it. I picked it back up for a book club read and found myself able to finish it, but still unable to enjoy it. I found that their relationship was not one of fantasy or a beautiful one, it was complicated and messy. I didn't think it was worth my time to be reading about Elios obsession with Oliver and their sex. There were some good quotes in the book, but I otherwise found this to be uncomfortable, stupid, and unnecessary. The age gap is uncomfortable and adds nothing to the story but to make it controversial. The question of if a 17 year old and a 24 year old can be soulmates is gross and adds nothing to the story other than questionable morals from every character involved. Would not read again, do not recommend.
