A favorite read thus far for 2022 (it’s November). Author rewrote and edited this book adding a lot of spice. This review is for this new, 2nd edition of Trick.

Absolutely mesmerized and enchanted by the writing and the characters. Truthfully I can not stop thinking about this story.

She is the Princess of the Autumn Court, he is the jester of the Spring Court.
She’s uptight, he’s relaxed.
She’s virginal, he’s a libertine.
Both have preconceived ideas about the other based on rumor or appearance/behavior. Both learn this outward appearance is a mask; her due to a tragedy from her childhood, his is due to a secret he carries. She learns said secret and commits treason with him to hide and protect it.

He becomes absolutely enchanted by her, slowly falling in love with her and her with him. The secret gets revealed and they must and will do whatever they can to protect an innocent and that is the binding conflict for the series. Appreciate that the conflict isn’t about saving a kingdom or the world, but about protecting a vulnerable group of people from abuse. Check trigger and content warnings.
