Overall, I enjoyed this book, I just didn't love it. I wasn't sold on the ending, and having just read Toni Morrison and another haunted house-type book by Sarah Gailey, the writing simply was not up to par.
That said, I found the book engaging and read through it quite quickly. And I found the concept of using horror to speak on colonialism, racism, and power (through oppressing people based on their race, monetary status, gender) to be truly fascinating. I just felt like the ideas never reached the finish line, sputtering out in the last mile, instead.
