Fermat's Enigma by Simon Singh details the history of one of the most famous math problems in history, Fermat's Last Theorem. It begins at the end, describing Andrew Wiles's attempt to solve the problem in the 1990s. Before ending the potentially momentous event, it reflects on the origins of the problem and the history of attempted solutions. Although it was a book about math, I found myself enjoying it. The organization made me keep reading to find out the ending.
Spoiler The ending, when it finished Wiles's story, was my favorite part because it would have been heartbreaking for him to lose all of his hard work. But when he figures out how to remedy his solution at the very last moment, the resolution was very satisfying.
Although I enjoyed this book, I can only recommend it to people who enjoy math. The book contained many mathematical explanations that are only exciting for math-oriented people, but would otherwise make it dull.
