This biography was about an AMAZING woman, Margaret O'Shaughnessy Heckler! She was involved in the ERA and ECOA and traveled to China, Vietnam, and Cambodia while in Congress; developed AIDS research policies and budget increases, hospice care, and minority medical inequality correction as HHS Secretary; and was the first woman Ambassador to Ireland.
Margaret was a trailblazer, a glass-ceiling breaker who raised three kids near Washington D.C. during the week until her husband came home on the weekend. It was a role reversal in their traditional marriage roles.
My only issue is that I wanted more. I wanted more stories, insights, and her inner psyche. I liked this book, but didn't love it! It was very dense and well-researched.
