I want to start by saying Peter Pan is one of my childhood favorites, and I started this book with high hopes! Overall, I enjoyed this book, but I had a few qualms with it.

First, it felt like there was minimal plot advancement. Winnie gets taken to Neverland, fucks around on the island, remembers Pan’s shadow has been back at home this whole time, then they go back and get it. The VERY END there is a twist when two shadows come out, and it feels like the story should’ve kept going - I like a good cliffhanger, but usually there is some sort of plot satisfaction even in a cliffhanger…

Second, there was minimal character development. A lot of the character details were repetitive “X is the nice one, Y is the mean one” that kind of thing. The characters weren’t very dynamic and so they didn’t develop much. The twins were by far the best characters in the book with the most interesting stories! I wanted to know more about them.

That said, it seems like this was somebody’s spicy Pan fantasy, and that’s okay
