Dear Enemy by Jean Webster

I've really enjoyed discovering Jean Webster!

She is very talented at the epistolary novel, a difficult thing to do well. You finish this book, as with 'Daddy-Long-Legs', feeling you know as much about the narrator as you do about the people she describes in her letters.

This volume is a kind of sequel to DLL, the letters this time being written by Judy's college friend Sallie as she improves, innovates, and falls in love with the children of, the John Grier Home, where Judy grew up. It is very much a book of its time in its discussion of mental health problems, but that is the only substantial criticism I have of it.
