Strange Gods by Alison Kimble
4.0
Yet again, I become emotionally attached to characters that do not exist.
In this case, it was a huge frog god.
This was such a fun and refreshing read and the story immediately pulled me in and made me wonder what was going to happen next. At the beginning I had no idea where the story was going but once we found out, I enjoyed every part of the journey. It was fast paced, quirky, edgy and definitely nothing like anything I've read before.
All of the characters and creatures were so interesting and unique and ... well... strange. The main crew had such an interesting dynamic, as one would expect with delinquent kids stuck in a camp in the middle of nowhere.
What I enjoyed about Spooky was how out of place and confused she was 24/7. She would meet a weird creature and be like "uhhh, okay I guess?"She walked around like she had absolutely no idea what was going on. And, I mean, same.
And the ending? I did not expect this ending. Like.... what ?? How? Why? What now?
If we want to get technical, it was a 3.75 ⭐ for me. I wanted to read more of who Spooky is rather than what her actions were, but I was very happy with her character developement. Also, the characters felt a little younger than they were supposed to be.
I'm very thankful to have received an ARC of this book and I thoroughly enjoyed every second of it.
