The Witch's Kiss by Katharine Corr, Elizabeth Corr

4.0

O, how much I've missed this the last couple of weeks. How much I've missed diving into a book without knowing what to expect and then losing myself in the story within a few chapters. How I missed reading page after page after page in so little time, just because I needed to know what will happen and how it will all end.

I'm gonna be honest: I had never heard about this book, I had no intention to buy this book. I simply made a mistake. I saw a post with preloved books on facebook, reacted that I wanted a certain series, discovered that I had named the wrong one, quickly googled the wrong one and then decided that I just wanted them both.

And I'm so not regretting it! This book was really awesome! It was fast paced, written in a very easy and fluent language and had a very thrilling plot that kept me glued to the pages! I really loved how the stories of 1500 years ago and now intertwined, how the characters were built up without taking away the mystery behind them and how the plot unfolded slowly and quickly at the very same time. I also really loved the relationship between Merry and her brother Leo!

This book had all those elements I really love. We had a very strong main character, who had to learn a lot before she could rescue the world. We had a mysterious charming prince who had an evil side and therefore became a very complex and interesting character. And we had loads of fairytale elements and winks and nods to Sleeping Beauty, Snow White and many other well known stories that will always hold a special place in my heart.

This was a truly amazing read and I can't wait to read the second book. It's a good thing that my accidental buy included the entire series, because I need so much more!
