The Isle of Sin and Shadows by Keri Lake

description

I love Keri Lake's Dystopian novels, but haven't really read a lot of her contemporary dark romances. I decided to pick up The Isle of Sin and Shadows when I found myself in between books (it's sometimes very hard to find a book to read). I was hooked to the story from the start. I love it when dark romances have this air of mystery and suspense. I didn't know what to expect but I knew I was in for a wild ride. The two main characters were original and intrigued me. It's obvious both Céleste and Thierry haven't had an easy life, and I wanted to see how these two would work together in a relationship. Céleste is a strong and determined, and Thierry is dark and broody. I loved their first meeting and how they interacted with each other.

I don't like insta-love, so I was happy that it was a bit of a slow-burn type of love for them. I absolutely love anti-heroes and Thierry ticked all the right boxes. I was happy that the author didn't soften him up too much. I like my anti-heroes to keep that dark and dangerous edge until the end. The sex scenes were super hot and I couldn't get enough of them. Thierry found his match in Céleste, and I enjoyed seeing them grow closer together. The suspense and mystery aspect of the story was done really well, and it kept me guessing until the end. The plot twists were a great addition to the story, and I loved that they were unpredictable. I appreciate that this author always takes the time to tell a complete and detailed story, so the length of the novel didn't bother me. Keri Lake really mastered the art of writing dark romances, and I'm for sure keeping an eye on anything she releases next.
