The Dating Disaster
by Saxon James
This was really fun, but also tested my patience a lot. I love both the protagonists. Felix is dramatic in an entertaining way, and endearing. Marshall is just the sweetest. They work so well together and after the initial tension, they make it very clear that they have feelings for each other and want to prove it to the other person. Well, they make it clear to us. To each other, they try to act in a way that they think makes their feelings known. And that's sweet, but at one point, you have to fucking talk to each other! Use actual fucking words to communicate your emotions!
To an extent, I can handle a hesitance to confess your undying love to someone. And I was fully on board and really enjoys the book until like 70%. But when it drags on and on and is full of miscommunication and misinterpretation of signals and leads to angst? Yeah, I'm out.
There were still cute moments toward the end, there were side characters I really liked, and the cameos were great. But I was annoyed with how long it took for Felix and Marshall to fucking talk to each other. And is it just me, or does such a serious inability to read your significant other not bode well for a relationship? But they're young and insecure. They'll learn if they really try. And since I never doubted the sincerity of their feelings, I do think they'll try.
Overall, other than the one thing, I enjoyed this book. Oh, I also skipped a sex scene. I was already annoyed with the book at that point and it came too soon after the previous one for me. Not a big deal.
