City of Incurable Women by Maud Casey

challenging dark fast-paced

2.25

Maybe the blurb was to blame for my reaction to this book. I borrowed it expecting to learn about how women and asylums and perceived mental illness. I definitely wasn’t expecting a cheery book, but I was anticipating a coherent book. Instead this book is written in stream of consciousness from the perspective of heavily traumatized, drugged women, which is to full of confusion. I’m sure this book has its audience, but the blurb is misleading.
