The Invisible Library by Genevieve Cogman
3.0

I'm not going to lie to you - this isn't a good book. It's predictable, cheesy, and drops so many plot points that a piece of Swiss cheese would be shocked. But Genvieve Cogman knows that, and it makes The Invisible Library a heck of a lot of fun to read.

It starts with a librarian/spy named Irene, who has been tasked with the 'cultivation' of new books to the universe's greatest library. In other words, it's her job to flit from dimension to dimension, stealing copies of the best and rarest books ever created. This time, her target is one of the most dangerous books ever created, and with the help of her new and seeming unqualified assistant, Kai, she must navigate a chaos-infested alternate London to find it. The only problem is, it's already been stolen.

As she traverses this unknown terrain, Irene is all of us: she will groan at bad jokes, comment on clichés, and trudge across plot holes - anything, as long as she, and we, end up with this book.
