Truly disturbing and without much payoff as far as character development. Is this a depiction of shared psychosis or is there something supernatural here? The cruelty of the side characters was difficult to stomach, and actually made the main character, as unsettling as she is, more sympathetic. This was  painful read, but at least was quick, like ripping off a bandage.
